We have an exciting opportunity for a Renal Cancer Nurse Specialist to join the Christie NHS Foundation Trust, an international leader in cancer treatment and the largest cancer treatment centre of its kind in Europe.

Position details: Band 7, 30 hours per week (0.8 WTE).

The post holder must be a registered nurse (RN) with at least 5 years of relevant oncology renal‑oncology or palliative care experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as key worker for renal‑oncology patients, providing assessment, advice, and symptom/side‑effect management.
  • Manage a caseload of renal‑oncology cancer patients and optimise care planning.
  • Conduct holistic needs assessments and develop personalised care plans.
  • Provide clinical support to multidisciplinary teams and specialist nephrology nurses.
  • Lead or participate in audit, research, and service development projects.
  • Develop and review protocols and guidelines to promote innovative clinical practice.
  • Facilitate patient support and education groups; present at local, national, and international conferences.
  • Line‑manage team members and support staff when required.
  • Ensure compliance with Trust policies, NMC code, and non‑medical prescribing standards.

Qualifications & requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 5 years oncology renal‑oncology/palliative care background.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, prioritisation, and decision‑making skills.
  • Strong leadership and advocacy skills; able to influence change and service improvement.
  • In‑depth knowledge of renal cancer, willing to develop further expertise.
  • Expertise in holistic care assessment and patient‑led care planning.
  • Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and attending MDT meetings.
  • Ability to conduct research, audit, and present findings.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and compliance with Trust training requirements.
