The Mowbray Kitchen is looking for another chef to join our expanding team! We are looking for a chef who has at least 5 years experience in a busy kitchen, cooking from scratch with fresh ingredients, with experience in a similar role or someone ready to take the next step! This is a brilliant opportunity to join a small independent business at a very exciting time!
The position is flexible with a salary in the region of £30,000 per annum dependent on skills & experience. At The Mowbray & Chimney House we use local & seasonal produce where possible - as well as great ingredients from across Europe. We make (almost) everything from scratch and are always looking to innovate & improve our wonderful feasts in our award-winning business.
With our new venue ‘The Victoria’, we will be offering something a little different for our couples & corporate clients with ‘festival’ style events. We’ll be cooking over wood & charcoal in our huge outdoor space & have a whole load of new kit to play with in our new flagship kitchen! We’ll be up & running by Autumn, so you’ll be part of this exciting new launch!
DUTIES- Working with & sometimes leading our small friendly team of chefs to deliver delicious feasts for our award-winning weddings, events & celebrations.
- Assist with all aspects of running the kitchen including food preparation, food safety management, supervising staff, planning & ordering.
- Managing food costs and comparing suppliers to maintain our GP.
- Maintain food safety management procedures - working to improve and adapt these as needed.
- Assist with the launch of our new venue ‘The Victoria’ - planned opening Autumn 2024.
- Oversee the running of the kitchen(s) in the absence of the head chefs.
- Innovate and bring fresh ideas to the kitchen.
- Several years experience in a professional kitchen, working with fresh food in a great restaurant or catering operation.
- A passion & flair for flavour with a wide range of cookery skills such as bakery or pastry.
- A confident, fair & collaborative approach to managing people.
- Driving licence & car.
- Food safety management experience.
- Ready to invest & collaborate with our small team!
- Full time 40 hours per week.
- We would consider a part-time role to start - this can be discussed.
- Salary in the region of £30,000 per annum - dependant on skills & experience.
- We close for Christmas - spend time with your loved ones over the festive period!
- Working hours are typically 40 maximum, a mixture of evenings/mornings off - with a flexible approach to scheduling hours.
