28 hours per week - Friday working is essential for this post

£26,100 - £29,855 FTE (£20,880 - £23,884 pro rata)

Location: Torbay

The Children’s Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We deliver essential local services that provide safe, trusted support to children and young people during times of significant need. This role sits within our Youth Impact Domain, which works to provide immediate one-to-one and group support for children who urgently need support.

Your role will be to help us maintain and develop innovative practice to support our work in our services around the country. We are currently looking for an experienced and flexible project worker to join our dynamic, ambitious team.

A key part of this role will be your ability to engage with children and young people aged 16-17 who are experiencing homelessness; advocating on their behalf; and ensuring they know their rights and the options available to them. Advocating on behalf of children and young people within Child Protection and Cared for Child Review Meetings will also be an essential part of this role, as well as advocating for Care Experienced Young People up to the age of 25.

The Required Skills And Competencies For This Role Are:

  • A relevant professional qualification, eg Youth & Community, Education or NVQ 3 Health & Social Care, or HNC in Social Care or Early Years
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of evidence-based interventions and creative ways of working with children and young people
  • An ability to develop and maintain positive and constructive relationships with children and young people
  • Presence of mind to calm and reassure children and young people who are distressed.
