Fixed Term Maternity Cover until 31/05/2027, 21 hours/week (flexibility available for pattern adopted), £20,520 per annum. Location: Home Based with occasional travel.

About the role: As this role sits within our PCAT Domain, you’ll play a key part in our Youth Insight team, delivering high-quality reporting, analysis and insight that supports evidence‑based decision making across The Children's Society. Working with data relating to service outcomes, operational activity and safeguarding, the Data Analyst will transform data into accessible and meaningful insights that help improve outcomes for children and young people. The role will contribute to the development of reporting and analytics products using Microsoft Fabric as the organisation's analytics platform and Power BI as the primary visualisation and reporting tool. The post-holder will work closely with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, develop trusted data products and support a growing data-driven culture across the charity.
We’re looking for a skilled, proactive, and organised data analyst with the ability to manage their own workload and priorities while following established governance, data and technical standards; make day‑to‑day decisions relating to data analysis, reporting and stakeholder support, escalating complex or high‑risk issues where appropriate; plan and organise their own work to deliver agreed objectives and project milestones; contribute to work planning, backlog refinement and continuous improvement activities within the Youth Insight team.
Key skills and experience:
- Experience delivering reporting, analytics or business intelligence solutions in a professional environment.
- Strong experience using Power BI for dashboard development and reporting.
- Good SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Strong Excel skills for analysis, data validation and reporting.
- Knowledge of data modelling concepts and reporting best practices.
- Understanding of data governance and data protection principles.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non‑technical audiences.
- Effective stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills.

- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, including exposure to Dataflows, Lakehouse or Semantic Models.
- Experience within the charity, public sector, social care or not‑for‑profit sector.
- Experience using Python Notebooks for analysis or automation.
- Knowledge of child services, social care, mental health services, service delivery or impact reporting.
- Experience using the MS Power Platform or wider MS data technologies.
- Microsoft certifications such as: PL-300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst, DP-600: Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900).
