Description: The project has been identified as a unique opportunity for Cheshire East Council to drive forward the provision of both football pitches and facilities within Crewe by working with a local development partner and the Football Foundation to achieve this.
The Council’s Playing Pitch & Outdoor Sport Strategy (draft 2023 – to be adopted 2024) identifies a shortfall of two third generation artificial grass (3G) pitches within the Crewe area; this project will help to reduce this shortfall.
The scope is for the provision of a Football Development Partner for King George V Playing Field, Crewe. Following initial feasibility works, there appears to be scope, subject to the relevant consents being obtained, to develop a 3G pitch with associated ancillary facilities on the site.
