Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs? We are seeking a caring, patient and enthusiastic Intervenor to join our dedicated team at Kingfisher School. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide personalised support to a pupil with deafblindness, helping them communicate, explore their environment and develop independence.

Kingfisher School provides an exciting and well-designed learning environment for pupils aged 2-19, who have severe, complex or profound needs, including Autism. About the Role

  1. Provide dedicated, individualised support to a pupil with deafblindness, enabling them to access learning and participate in school life.
  2. Develop the pupil's communication skills and understanding of their environment, supporting them to make choices and express their preferences.
  3. Work closely with the classroom teacher, parents, carers and other professionals to deliver personalised learning and support.
  4. Adapt learning resources and follow individual learning plans and specialist recommendations.
  5. Promote independence in daily activities, including mobility, feeding and personal care.
  6. Support the pupil during classroom activities and community-based experiences.
  7. Maintain communication between home and school, keeping daily records of activities and progress.
  8. Contribute to progress reviews, assessments and meetings with parents and professionals.

About You

  1. A caring, patient and empathetic individual with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  2. Able to build trusting relationships and support the communication, independence and wellbeing of a pupil with deafblindness.
  3. A strong team player who can work collaboratively with teachers, families and a range of professionals.
  4. Good verbal and written communication skills, with strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  5. Able to use initiative while following detailed instructions and individual support plans.
  6. Resilient, adaptable and creative when responding to individual needs and challenges.
  7. Committed to safeguarding, confidentiality and promoting the pupil's voice.
  8. Willing to undertake specialist training and develop the skills required for the role.

Qualifications

GCSEs in Maths and English (grade 4-9) or equivalent essential
Grade 4/C or equivalent
