We are looking for a motivated Fitness Assistant to join our Fitness Team and play a vital role in delivering an outstanding experience for all users of our facilities.
As a Fitness Assistant, you will help create an inspiring, welcoming, and safe environment for members of all ages and abilities. You will be the friendly, professional face of our fitness suite, supporting users on their fitness journey, delivering high-quality inductions and programmes, and contributing to an exceptional customer experience that drives engagement and retention.
The working hours for this role are 32 per week, to be worked on a rota basis. This can include early and late shifts and weekend work.
About the Role
Reporting to the Health & Fitness Supervisor and Health & Fitness Manager, you will:
- Provide a warm and professional welcome to all users, responding confidently to enquiries and offering excellent customer service.
- Deliver comprehensive induction sessions to ensure members can safely and effectively use all fitness equipment.
- Create basic fitness programmes tailored to individual member needs, ensuring they are reviewed and updated regularly.
- Deliver 1-2-1 and small-group personal training sessions where applicable.
- Lead engaging small-group gym floor sessions, including circuits, junior activities, and older adult sessions.
- Support the wider Group Exercise programme by assisting or delivering classes as required.
- Engage in promotional and retention activities such as gym challenges, customer outreach, and service promotion.
- Support the Exercise Referral Scheme through tours, inductions, programme delivery, small-group sessions, and administrative tasks.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-presented fitness environment, following the NOP/EAP and reporting hazards or faults promptly.
- Work collaboratively with the Fitness Team to deliver an inclusive, supportive, and high-quality user experience.
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Qualifications:
- Level 2 Fitness Instructor
- Level 3 Personal Training
Experience:
- At least 6 months experience in a leisure or fitness environment
- Experience working with a wide variety of customers
Skills:
- Strong IT skills, including MS Office
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Customer-focused, proactive, and professional approach
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Able to build positive relationships with both users and colleagues
