We are seeking a skilled Learning Support Assistant to support a pupil on a 1:1 basis and to work with small groups in the classroom. The post is for 15 hours a week, Monday to Friday 9.00am – 12.00pm, on a fixed‑term contract ending 21 July 2027. The successful candidate will work in partnership with class teachers and the SENCO to support learning in line with the National Curriculum. The role requires flexibility, enthusiasm and a "can‑do" attitude, with a commitment to raising standards for those they work with.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils to facilitate learning and progress.
- Support pupils’ medical and personal needs, including any required intimate care.
- Apply behaviour management strategies to create a positive learning environment.
- Assist pupils and teacher in the planning, delivery and assessment of lessons.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with teachers, parents and support staff.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience of supporting children in a school setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills, ability to remain calm and flexible.
- Ability to provide medical and intimate care is required.
- Knowledge of strategies for engaging pupils with specific learning needs.
- Commitment to high achievement for pupils and self.
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Good standard of education: Maths and English GCSE grades A‑C or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of ICT.
- Willingness to undertake training and adapt to individual needs.
- Sense of humour and initiative.
