The Chauncy Science Department is well established with a healthy mix of experienced and more recently qualified colleagues, with a proud history of strong academic results over many years.
All of our work is focused on promoting student achievement. We are the Ware school, and the majority of students live within 3 km of Chauncy. We are committed to the safety, happiness and success of the students and staff. Most teachers appointed during the last 10 years have trained with us. There is a consistency of approach, particularly in teaching and learning.
Chauncy School is in an extremely strong position. The Opportunity
We are looking for a Science Teacher to join our dedicated team, teaching across KS3, KS4 and potentially KS5. You will deliver engaging lessons in Biology, Chemistry and Physics (KS3, GCSE and potentially A-level or Applied Science), support exam preparation, and help drive attainment for all groups. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to curriculum development, lead enrichment activities, and support students with SEN and EAL needs.

Job Description - Teacher of Science
- Job title: Teacher of Science
- Responsible to: Head of Science
- Salary/Grade: MPS £35602 - £48478 + TLR for suitable candidate
- Contract: Permanent
- Working pattern: Full-time - 21 teaching hours per week
- Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teach Science across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics (GCSE and A-level, including combined science routes)
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations, supporting them to reach their full academic potential
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including SEN and EAL students
- Use data-driven approaches to track pupil progress, set targets, and implement interventions to raise attainment for all groups
- Contribute to curriculum development and review within the Science department
- Lead and support science enrichment activities and extra-curricular science clubs
- Work collaboratively as part of a supportive and forward-thinking team, sharing best practice and resources
- Promote and uphold high standards of behaviour and achievement in line with school policies
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies as required to support student progress and wellbeing
