The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

The Security team protects our premises, assets, residents, personnel and guests 24/7. As the first point of contact for all visitors to the gatehouse of the Charterhouse, security team members are expected to present a professional and informed welcome, and to deal efficiently with all traffic and visitors to and from the site. As part of the role, the Security Manager is expected to lead the team and uphold high standards across the team as well as ensure implementation of fire safety responsibilities including evacuation duties and dealing with lift entrapment and other emergencies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Management Responsibilities
    • Full line management ownership and responsibility of the security team, undertaking regular one-to-one meetings, performance management, ensuring team are briefed on any operational updates, undertake annual staff appraisals and assessments.
    • Manage the Security Officers and report any issues and concerns to the Facilities Manager.
    • The Security supervisor will maintain and be responsible for organising the team's work rota ensuring all shifts, hours and leave are equitable.
    • Manage security officers including sickness leave, holidays and other employee related matters as per the company policies.
    • Coordinate with nominated facilities staff for lunchtime and break cover.
    • Follow and update the Security Handbook and report any required updates to the Facilities Manager.
    • Assist with creation of standard operating procedures for the Security Team.
  • Security
    • Maintain a permanent presence at the gatehouse of the Charterhouse site.
    • Carry out physical patrols of the site including the estate outside of the walls.
    • Be vigilant to security concerns and ensure that the Charterhouse site remains protected and secure.
    • Secure the premises by opening and locking up, carry out physical patrols of the property in accordance with set schedules, monitor CCTV.
    • Maintain control of access to Charterhouse Square by locking/unlocking at set times, and by monitoring temporary access through other site entrances.
    • Respond to security/fire alarms and report any disturbances/fires to relevant in-house staff and/or emergency services.
    • Issue and update access fobs, and keep records of holders.
    • Control traffic on site by directing drivers to required locations.
    • Conduct weekly fire alarm checks and report any issues to the Facilities Manager.
    • Conduct daily checks of site for potential fire risks and facilities issues during patrols and report accordingly to the Facilities Manager.
    • Be the first point of contact for out-of-hours urgent and emergency calls and relay to relevant staff in accordance with operational process.
  • Security Administration
    • Record and log incidents including intruder breaches and on-site accidents.
    • Maintain Contractors and visitors log books.
    • Keep track of keys and maintain and update the key schedule.
    • General porter duties of items delivered to the gatehouse.
  • Communication
    • Provide a professional and informed welcome for all visitors to the Charterhouse gatehouse.
    • Monitor and record all visitors to the site and liaise with internal departments, residents, Brothers and staff on deliveries and contractors.
    • Greet guests for events and monitor and manage guestlists.
    • Answer telephone calls, take messages, answer questions and direct persons as needed.
    • Communicate any internal messages and briefings to the Security Officers in an efficient and professional manner.

Key skills:

  • Essential: SIA License, ability to work with technical equipment (CCTV and security alarms), PC literate, ability to use Microsoft Office, current First Aider and Fire Marshal training, at least 2 years' experience in security roles for large and complex sites, good level of spoken and written English, courteous and professional manner, confident in challenging people when necessary, ability to use initiative and make decisions.
  • Desirable: 5 GCSEs or equivalent, knowledge and understanding of working in a care home environment, knowledge of working in historic buildings.

Other considerations:

To demonstrate a "can do" flexible approach to undertake such other duties as agreed with the Facilities Manager, commensurate with the level and scope of the post, that may be necessary from time to time.

Requirements:

The Charterhouse is a 7 day a week operation and it regularly hosts events outside of its core hours; flexibility to work occasional weekends and out-of-hours is therefore a requirement of the role.
