Ealing Council has published an ambitious Climate and Ecological Emergency Strategy, and we are working on a new Transport Strategy. Supporting active and sustainable travel is a key goal, with our work focusing on cycling, walking, public transport and electric vehicles.

To support these goals, we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to ensure that new developments are designed and built in accordance with our transport and placemaking objectives, and that developers share our vision to make the borough greener, safer and healthier for our residents and visitors. As part of Ealing’s award‑winning Transport Planning team, you will assess the transport and placemaking impacts of new developments, ensuring that all proposals support our transport strategy and our values.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert transport advice on applications for planning permission, working closely with Planning, Housing Development, Urban Design and Regeneration teams to promote active and sustainable travel.
  • Review transport assessments and travel plans and negotiate with developers to secure positive outcomes.
  • Participate in a wide range of proposals, from large‑scale developments requiring significant transport improvements to full range of initiatives supporting placemaking objectives.
Qualifications
  • Organised and self‑motivated with knowledge and experience of the planning system.
  • Experience reviewing transport assessments and travel plans, and negotiating with developers.
  • Keen interest in sustainable transport.
  • Relevant degree (environmental studies, transport planning, or a related discipline) or equivalent experience.

  • Hybrid basis with time split between the office in Ealing Broadway and remote working.
