Job type: Permanent, Full-time – 37 hours per week. Location: Great Moor House (Exeter). Salary: £60,234 per annum. Closing date: 06/07/2026. Role Overview Devon County Council (DCC) is looking for an individual to lead and direct the Neighbourhood Highway Teams across the Western, Teignbridge and South Hams area. This pivotal role within our Highways and Traffic Management service is an opportunity to shape the strategic direction of critical services that impact communities and the traveling public. The successful applicant will bring clarity of vision, a strong professional commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to empower others. A key part of the role is liaising with elected members and their communities (e.g., via Town and Parish Councils) to drive collaboration across teams and partners, ensuring we deliver a safe, efficient, and sustainable highway network. The postholder will be required to work a minimum of 3 days per week in the relevant DCC office. Key Responsibilities * Lead and direct Neighbourhood Highway Teams across the Western, Teignbridge and South Hams area. * Shape the strategic direction of the Highways and Traffic Management service. * Liaise with elected members and community bodies to foster collaboration and partnership. * Ensure delivery of a safe, efficient, and sustainable highway network. * Maintain on-site presence for at least 3 days per week at the DCC office. Qualifications & Requirements * Strong professional commitment to continuous improvement. * Ability to communicate confidently and fluently in English. * Experience in leadership and managing multidisciplinary teams. * Experience in highway or transportation planning is desirable.
