About the Role
As our Senior finance business partner, you will provide quality income and expenditure analysis and insight and decision support to the Chief Operating Officer, Budget Holders, Head of Departments and Directors and other key stakeholders to help achieve the Institutes Corporate Plan. Supports management planning and decision making by identifying, maintaining and evaluating information.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Leading the production of high‑quality, timely and accurate management accounts and monthly performance commentaries, ensuring stakeholders clearly understand financial results and the Institute’s income and expenditure position.
- Taking ownership of the Institute’s financial reporting tools, ensuring their ongoing development and enhancement so that stakeholders receive clear, reliable and strategically valuable analysis.
- Supporting the Budget Holders in producing robust, accurate budgets, forecasts and financial plans that link with the Institutes corporate and operational objectives.
- Producing high quality budget and forecast commentaries which provide meaningful analysis and insight on the financial performance of the Institute and its subsidiaries.
- Partnering with departments to evaluate business case, ROI analysis, monitor KPIs, and support the development of a more proactive, insight‑driven finance function.
- Providing mentoring, support and guidance to Finance Business Partners, helping to build capability, strengthen analytical skills, and enhance overall team effectiveness.
- Delivering targeted financial training to non‑finance managers to improve budget ownership, forecasting accuracy, and commercial understanding.
The ideal candidate will hold the following skills and/or experience:
- Qualified or near qualified accountant - CIMA preferred, or equivalent.
- Strong experience in management accounting, planning, forecasting, and financial modelling.
- Proven Business Partnering capability, working effectively with multiple stakeholders and senior management.
- Excellent communication, relationship‑building, influencing and challenge skills, including with non‑finance managers.
- High accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to present information clearly.
- Proactive, analytical, and forward‑thinking approach to problem solving.
- Able to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and maintain high standards.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, IF statements) and competent user of Word, PowerPoint, and E‑mail.
- Confident delivering presentations and training in person or online.
- Experience in the Not‑for‑Profit sector advantageous.
- Previous experience working within a membership or awarding organisations, or educational environment desirable but not essential.
