As an Assistant Heart of House Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the culture, performance, and operational excellence of our back‑of‑house operation. Working closely with the Heart of House Manager, you will take ownership of key areas of the department — leading a team of associates and supervisors, driving standards, and ensuring that everything behind the scenes operates with the precision and professionalism that our guests' experience depends upon. If you are an experienced hospitality professional with strong leadership instincts, a strategic mindset, and a genuine commitment to developing people, we would love to welcome you to our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day‑to‑day management of the Heart of House department, taking full operational responsibility in the absence of the Heart of House Manager and ensuring consistent delivery of standards across all shifts and service periods.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Stewards and Heart of House Supervisors, conducting performance conversations, supporting training and development plans, and building a high‑performing team culture rooted in pride, accountability, and mutual respect.
  • Drive compliance across all areas of food safety, hygiene legislation, COSHH regulations, and hotel policy, conducting audits, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that all associates are trained and confident in their responsibilities.
  • Oversee departmental resources including staffing levels, equipment, cleaning supplies, and budgetary expenditure, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency without compromising on quality or safety.
  • Partner with department heads and senior leaders across the hotel to anticipate operational needs, align on service priorities, and ensure that the Heart of House team is always one step ahead in supporting a seamless guest experience.

About You

  • Connection — You are a visible, approachable, and inspiring leader who invests genuinely in the people around you — building trust across your team and across departments, and creating a Heart of House culture that associates are proud to be part of.
  • Guest‑centricity — You hold a clear and unwavering understanding of how back‑of‑house excellence translates into guest satisfaction, and you instil that understanding in every associate and supervisor you lead, ensuring that standards never slip regardless of the pressures of service.
  • Influencing — You communicate with authority, empathy, and precision — whether setting expectations with your team, presenting operational updates to senior leadership, or negotiating supplier arrangements — always achieving outcomes through collaboration and credibility rather than direction alone.
  • Integrity — You lead with transparency and fairness, making decisions that reflect the hotel's values and your own high personal standards, and creating an environment where associates feel safe to speak up, take ownership, and do the right thing.
  • Drive — You are ambitious, results‑focused, and commercially aware, consistently seeking opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, elevate performance, and position the Heart of House department as a centre of operational excellence within the hotel.
  • Adaptability — You thrive in complexity, managing competing priorities and evolving demands with calm, strategic thinking — supporting your team through challenge, leading change with confidence, and always keeping the bigger picture in clear view.
