About the job
Recruiting for Bristol!
Whatâs the opportunity?
If youâre a top quality Chief Financial Officer / Finance Director whoâs frustrated and fed up with the confines of a normal corporate life and youâre looking for something different, or youâre an independent CFO whoâs already made the break from corporate life, or a working or returning CFO parent who wants more work flexibility and work life balance, then read on, this might be for you.
Youâll be responsible for providing CFO services to ambitious ÂŁ2-50M private businesses climb their Everest.
Weâre not interested in people who just want a job. Youâll help our clients reach those summits, youâll be a self-starter with ambition, energy, and a âcan doâ attitude, who has a passion to help our clients, typically business owners, entrepreneurs, CEOâs or MDâs.
Youâll thrive on the challenge and autonomy of growing your own portfolio of clients, supported by an incredible network of CFOs based across world. We have big dreams, and we expect you to have the same.
What do you need to have?
You need to be qualified from one of the UKs major chartered accounting institutes and have been a real-life CFO/FD once, twice or several times over, with strong experience and understanding of commercial finance, business strategy, and a track record of success, although your âspecial sauceâ is your natural ability to build genuine long-lasting relationships with our clients. Part CFO, part advisor, part strategist, part friend. Your clients will say âthis person and The CFO Centre are in it with me for the long-term, and I know they really careâ.
Working closely with your Regional Director and team of CFO/FDs in a highly collegiate environment. We pride ourselves on being a great place to work, with family at our core, as is often found in our own clientâs operations.
How does it work?
The role is self-employed, whilst operating within a defined model, combining the benefits of being part of a team and supported by a well-established organisation, but with a level of autonomy and freedom in how you deliver outcomes for clients.
Rather than feeding you fish, we teach you how to catch them and how to build a portfolio career that can be a game changer for clients and yourself. Youâll love the challenge, variety and interest of working for multiple clients and appreciate the flexibility this way of working provides. A great listener, and even better at asking great questions, at first youâll wake up every day and think âhow do I build my portfolio todayâ and then as your portfolio builds think âhow do I add value and do something special for my clients today?â
Weâre the UK & Global Market leading provider of part-time Finance Directorâs and Chief Finance Officerâs services to mid-sized businesses. As we say, for those businesses that donât want, donât need and probably canât afford a full time CFO/FD, yet who want access to that skillset on an affordable part-time basis.
Who are we?
Weâre 650 people, in 5 continents, across 17 countries, operating in 26 regions in the UK & Ireland. We started The CFO Centre to change the game for mid-tier businesses!

We define and deliver the numbers that really matter. What does that mean?
