Brief Description
Job Overview:
The Center for Discovery is currently seeking a Nurse Director/Training Facilitator. The Nurse Director
will be responsible for supervising the staff nurses to provide a comprehensive nursing care for the
individuals in their assigned location with utilizing a holistic approach. This position will ensure the
Nursing process is accurate and that all nursing staff are following the Nurse Practice Act and The Code
for Nurses. The ideal candidate will work in conjunction with other team members to assure that nursing
department staff are trained and able to function at the highest level of their license or certificate, with
a focus on EHR training. This candidate will take the lead on nursing policy and procedure review and
development. Assistance with additional training such as Base Camp, AMAP training and identified staff
training needs may be required as needed. The Nurse Director will also be responsible for building
relationships with families and ensuring a safe environment for staff.
Requirements
Graduate from an approved school of nursing, Bachelors of Science degree or higher from an accredited
institution offering a curriculum in nursing is preferred. Two years preferred with expertise based on
prior experience working with individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Demonstrate
skill and experience in utilization of the nursing process and multidisciplinary approach. Maintains
required course work training as mandated by the NYS Education Department. Demonstrates excelled
competency in computer technology as well as proficient with Sigmacare Electronic Health Record.
License: Registered Professional Nurse, holding an unrestricted license in New York State.
