As Sous Chef, you'll play a key role in supporting the Head Chef to deliver consistently high standards, inspire the kitchen team and help drive the continued success of one of Newport's most exciting dining destinations.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Professional Chef qualifications to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • A strong understanding of menu planning, food costing and kitchen profitability
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards
  • Experience working in a high-volume, quality-focused restaurant, hotel or hospitality environment
  • Experience leading and developing a kitchen team of five or more colleagues
  • A proven ability to deliver consistently high standards during busy service periods
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 certification (or above)
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to thrive under pressure
  • A passion for fresh food, great presentation and delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • A positive, hands-on leadership style with a commitment to developing others

Implementing our 'Yes, We Can' philosophy, you will:

  • Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day operation of Casa's kitchen
  • Lead and motivate the kitchen brigade, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality and presentation
  • Assist with menu development, seasonal specials and cost-effective menu planning
  • Manage food ordering, stock control and supplier relationships
  • Ensure all deliveries are checked, stored and rotated correctly in line with company procedures
  • Maintain exceptional standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
  • Work closely with the Restaurant Manager to ensure a seamless guest experience
  • Drive efficiency and minimise waste while maintaining quality standards
  • Train, coach and develop team members to help them reach their full potential
  • Lead by example during service, creating a positive and productive working environment
