Community Sports & Mental Health Lead (Charity Sector)

East Kent | £26,500 per annum + pension + travel expenses | 2834 hours per week | 12-month rolling contract

Use sport to improve mental health and help prevent suicide.

Head In The Game is an award-winning mental health charity using sport and physical activity to improve mental wellbeing and help prevent suicide.

We're looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and organised person to lead and support our community sports programmes across East Kent.

This role could suit a Football Coach, Sports Coach, Community Sports Coach, Personal Trainer, Fitness or Exercise Class Instructor, PE Teacher, Sports Development Officer, or someone with experience delivering community sport and wellbeing programmes.

About the role

You'll lead and support sessions including football, netball, walking, yoga and tennis, facilitate group wellbeing huddles, support and develop our volunteer coaches, build positive relationships with participants, and help create a safe, welcoming environment for around 200 attendees each week.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a coaching, fitness or community sport background.
  • Enjoys leading groups and building supportive relationships.
  • Is organised, reliable and passionate about improving mental health through sport.
  • Has a good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
  • Holds a full driving licence and is happy to travel across East Kent.
  • Is willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

Please note: This role includes two evening sessions each week, so flexibility to work during those times is essential.

Full training, mentoring and ongoing support will be provided by our experienced Charity Manager, giving you the opportunity to develop your operational skills as the charity continues to grow.

Recruitment Process

This vacancy is being managed by The CDR Collectiveon behalf of Head In The Game and we will coordinate the recruitment process, working closely with the charity's management team to review applications, conduct initial screening interviews and agree the final shortlist.

Final interviews will take place on 15 July and will include a practical coaching/session delivery exercise.

Full driving licence required and a full DBS check will be carried out.
