I am partnered with a successful growing Civil Engineering and Construction company delivering major projects across the UK, with project values of £3 to £14 million. On their behalf, I am looking for an organised and detail-focused Finance Administrator, with high level experience of Xero and Excel, to join their Medway based team and support the day-to-day finance operations within a busy construction environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Finance Administrator
- Within Xero, take responsibility for expenditure and money in, money out for the business and upwards of 10 projects at one time.
- Create new project and client records.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation for each project.
- Monitoring project-related costs and expenditure and creating weekly reports.
- Account reconciliation on Xero to ensure the ledger stands correct and queries are resolved monthly.
- Manage the cashbook and record daily payments in/out and post transactions.
- Forecasting and reporting and presenting reports to MD.
- Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
- Reconciling supplier statements and bank accounts.
- Assisting with VAT returns and finance reporting.
- Check the accuracy of cost codes.
- Supporting month-end finance processes.
- Managing subcontractor records and CIS administration.
Requirements of the Finance Administrator
- Xero, Excel and MS Office.
- Previous experience in a Finance Assistant / Accounts Assistant role.
- Experience within Construction, Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, or related sectors.
- Understanding of CIS and construction finance processes.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Professional and proactive approach.
This role would suit someone with previous experience in Construction or Civil Engineering finance who is confident using Xero and understands the fast-paced nature of project-based businesses.
