Your Opportunity

As a Junior Accounts Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the day‑to‑day activities of our Finance Department.

Working with the wider finance team, you will gain hands‑on experience of accounting processes including shop takings reconciliation, purchase ledger, credit control, stock control support and general finance activities.

  • Develop your finance skills by gaining practical experience across accounting processes including reconciliations, invoices, payments, and financial administration.
  • Build your commercial understanding by seeing how finance supports a multi‑site retail and bakery business, from daily sales through to supplier relationships and stock management.
  • Support business accuracy and performance by maintaining reliable financial records and helping ensure our processes run smoothly.

Your Role

  • Shop Takings Reconciliation
  • Reconcile daily takings from 15 retail shops using Xero.
  • Review and investigate discrepancies between shop sales, cash receipts, delivery platform reports and bank transactions.
  • Ensure all revenue is accurately recorded and reconciled in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with shop managers and other departments to resolve queries and maintain accurate records.
  • Purchase Ledger
  • Process supplier invoices into Xero accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure invoices are correctly coded and VAT is applied appropriately.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders where applicable.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and support the resolution of supplier queries.
  • Credit Control
  • Import sales invoices from Cybake to Xero.
  • Monitor outstanding customer balances and identify overdue accounts.
  • Support customer payment reminders and follow‑up communications.
  • Assist the Senior Accounts Assistant in maintaining effective cash collection processes.
  • Stock Control Support

As part of your wider business exposure, you will provide support to the Stock Controller during periods of annual leave and absence.

This will provide valuable insight into how stock management supports the wider bakery operation.

Responsibilities will include

  • Receiving and checking supplier deliveries, ensuring goods are accurately recorded.
  • Reporting any delivery discrepancies.
  • Supporting stock counts and maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Assisting with stock ordering in line with business requirements.
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal teams to support continuity of stock operations.
  • General Finance Support
  • Maintain organised and accurate financial records.
  • Assist with month‑end finance tasks and reporting.
  • Support the wider finance team with administrative and accounting activities as required.
