The Cause is an award-winning, fully independent multi-venue dance music institution. We are a vital part of London’s nightlife ecosystem and we pride ourselves in supporting charitable causes and championing underground dance music. Whilst maintaining the ethos of The Cause and providing a platform for electronic artists to continue playing through the pandemic, we provided a wider portfolio of entertainment, varying from food, comedy, cabaret, live music and DJ events. Having secured new spaces for us to operate across London, we are recruiting for a variety of senior management positions to help manage the operations of the spaces, develop and grow the team and move the business forward. THE ROLE

To manage the day‑to‑day shift operations of both the front of house and bar team. Reporting to, and supporting the on‑duty Venue Manager. As well as supporting the wider management team in the provision of an efficient & customer‑service focused bar and food service establishment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the daily operation of the bar; both the front of house & bar.
  • Responsible for the smooth running of the shift; acting autonomously to quickly resolve small issues and flagging issues with the Venue Manager for additional support.
  • Supervising the efficient management of stock & consumables during shifts, ensuring no provisions run out during any events.
  • Creating and maintaining a team environment; motivating and training team members to achieve and deliver high standards of customer service and alcohol service.
  • Responsible for reporting and minimising wastage through adequate stock control and staff management during shifts.
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment.
  • Ensure that all duties are carried out in line with Company and health and safety and other Company requirements.
  • The efficient management of all staff attendance & breaks.
  • Assisting and managing with the opening/closing of the venue when events are in operation/shoots booked in.
  • Developing and mentoring the bar, cloakroom & door team.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Must Have

  • Previous experience as a Bar Supervisor; supervising front of house staff, bartenders and barbacks.
  • Excellent communication and people skills; friendly and approachable for staff and customers.
  • A passion for bar work; a good working knowledge of cocktails, wines and beer.
  • Experienced in food handling, safety and preparation.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and to provide a calming influence over junior members of staff during busy periods.
  • Available to work weekends including public holidays and late night hours.
  • Experience working with point-of-sale systems, in particular Goodtill.
  • Desire to progress within the hospitality industry.

Nice to Have

  • A passion for the live music industry, hospitality and the late night economy.
  • Cocktail / mixology experience.
  • Alcoholic beverage menu development.

£14.5 / hour. Shift Work. Share of Tronc TIPS.
