We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The role involves supporting the child during their morning sessions (9:00am-12:00pm) and helping them engage positively with the EYFS curriculum. The pupil is currently proverbial, communicating mainly through single words. They are very active and can sometimes become dysregulated, so the successful candidate will need to be calm, responsive and confident in supporting emotional regulation. The pupil enjoys trains, which can be used as a motivating interest to support engagement with activities.

This role will involve providing consistent 1:1 support, helping the pupil interact with adults and activities, supporting communication development, and implementing strategies outlined in their Education Health Care Plan. Building a positive, trusting relationship will be key to helping the pupil feel safe, settled and ready to learn.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting children with Autism or additional needs
  • Be patient, calm and nurturing
