The Role

We are looking for a relatable tutor to support an 18-year-old student with their iGCSE Science course. This isn’t a high-pressure classroom setup. The student is into Formula 1 and Mindjam, so we need someone who can keep the sessions relaxed and conversational. You don’t need to spend hours planning, as the course material is already provided, but you do need to be confident enough in Science to explain the concepts clearly and answer their questions.

What you’ll be doing:

  • iGCSE Science Support: Working through the provided syllabus at a pace that suits them.
  • Building a Connection: If you can chat about F1 or gaming while keeping them on track with their work, you’ll be a great fit.
  • Consistency: You’ll be meeting twice a week (Mon/Thurs) in Haverhill. The hours are set to increase after April, so there’s an opportunity for more work as they get closer to their goals.
  • Short-to-Medium Term: This is a 9-month booking, taking them through to November 2026.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Subject Knowledge: You’re comfortable with iGCSE level Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
  • The Right Vibe: You’re patient, easy to talk to, and can act as a positive mentor figure.
  • Local & Reliable: You can get to Haverhill for the specific 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm slots.
  • DBS: You’ll need an Enhanced DBS (or be willing to get one).

Why apply?

At £25-30 per hour, this is a straightforward, consistent role for the rest of the year. It’s perfect if you want a regular booking with a student who has clear interests, without the stress of a full teaching timetable.
