The CatchUp Academy is seeking an experienced and compassionate online tutor to support a 16-year-old young person with a primary need of Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and secondary needs relating to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), including anxiety. The role will focus on delivering personalised English and Maths tuition whilst supporting confidence, engagement, emotional wellbeing, and preparation for future learning opportunities.
About the Young Person
This young person has a social communication disorder alongside learning difficulties. School environments have proven highly challenging, and they are currently unable to access mainstream education without significant support and intervention due to their social, emotional, and learning needs. They experience anxiety which can impact their confidence, engagement, and willingness to attempt unfamiliar or challenging tasks. Building trust and creating a positive learning experience will therefore be essential. The young person benefits from clear communication, predictable routines, patient encouragement, and a tutor who can break learning into manageable steps whilst celebrating success.
