The role will focus on delivering personalised English and Maths tuition whilst supporting confidence, engagement, emotional wellbeing, and preparation for future learning opportunities.

About the Young Person

This young person has a social communication disorder alongside learning difficulties. School environments have proven highly challenging, and they are currently unable to access mainstream education without significant support and intervention due to their social, emotional, and learning needs. They experience anxiety which can impact their confidence, engagement, and willingness to attempt unfamiliar or challenging tasks. Building trust and creating a positive learning experience will therefore be essential.

The young person benefits from clear communication, predictable routines, patient encouragement, and a tutor who can break learning into manageable steps whilst celebrating success.

The Role

  • Deliver engaging online English and Maths tuition.
  • Adapt learning to meet Moderate Learning Difficulties and communication needs.
  • Build confidence and resilience through positive reinforcement.
  • Create a calm, supportive, and structured online learning environment.
  • Use visual supports, scaffolding, and differentiated resources.
  • Develop independent learning skills and encourage participation.
  • Work collaboratively with parents and professionals involved in the young person's support.
  • Monitor and record progress effectively.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience supporting young people with MLD, SEMH, Autism, or communication needs.
  • Is confident delivering engaging online tuition.
  • Understands the impact anxiety can have on learning and participation.
  • Can build positive relationships through patience, consistency, and encouragement.
  • Is skilled at differentiating English and Maths teaching.
  • Can motivate learners who may have experienced previous educational challenges.

Essential Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS Certificate.
  • Relevant teaching, tutoring, SEND, or mentoring experience.
  • Experience delivering online learning.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
