Description

Join our Property & Maintenance team and help care for one of Scotland’s most remarkable private estates.

Set across an extraordinary 9,000-acre estate, The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle combines historic buildings, beautiful grounds, and modern facilities, creating a truly unique working environment.

Our Property & Maintenance team plays a crucial role in keeping the estate running seamlessly. From maintaining the historic fabric of Skibo Castle to looking after guest facilities, staff areas and essential infrastructure, every day brings something different.

We’re looking for a practical, reliable, and solutions-focused Maintenance Operative/ Technician to join our team and help us maintain the exceptional standards our members, guests and colleagues expect.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Operative / Technician, you’ll be part of a skilled and supportive team responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the estate.

You’ll enjoy a varied role where no two days are quite the same.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the property, ensuring facilities, equipment and guest areas are maintained to a high standard.
  • Responding to maintenance requests and investigating faults to find practical solutions, contacting Contractors when required.
  • Working closely with the Property Supervisor to prioritise and organise work.
  • Supporting departments across the estate while minimising disruption to members and guests.
  • Working alongside colleagues and external contractors to deliver high-quality results.
  • Taking part in a rota for on-call support, helping to respond to urgent maintenance issues.
  • Follow all health & safety, COSHH, fire safety and company procedures at all times.

The role operates on a 4-day working week, with a shift pattern that includes late shifts and one weekend in four, alongside on-call responsibilities.

About You

We’re looking for someone with a strong practical mindset, a willingness to learn and pride in doing a job well.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience in general maintenance, a trade or construction environment.
  • A broad range of practical maintenance skills.
  • A good understanding of health & safety.
  • Basic IT skills for recording work and reporting issues.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence.
  • First Aid training would be desirable.

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who:

  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards.
  • Is dependable, organised and takes ownership of their work.
  • Can work independently and use initiative to solve problems.
  • Has a positive, flexible and proactive approach.
  • Communicates well with colleagues, contractors and other departments.
  • Is comfortable working across a large estate and in a variety of environments.

You don’t have to tick every box. If you have strong practical skills, a positive attitude and the enthusiasm to contribute to a unique estate, we’d love to hear from you.

Benefits

Working at Skibo is about more than just having a job. You’ll become part of a team that takes enormous pride in looking after an exceptional place and creating an outstanding experience for our members and guests.

We offer a 4-day working week and a fantastic range of benefits, including:

  • 26.5 days’ annual leave pro-rata, based on a 4-day working week.
  • Share of gratuities.
