Families are at the heart of The Carnegie Club experience. Children of all ages visit Skibo throughout the year, enjoying dedicated activity spaces alongside the freedom to explore our 8,000-acre estate in a safe and inspiring environment. Our Children's Barn team delivers memorable indoor and outdoor experiences, from creative activities such as baking and crafts to outdoor adventures including bushcraft, canoeing and treasure hunts. During school holidays, the team supports a programme of family-focused events and celebrations, while in the evenings we offer a professional babysitting service, allowing parents to relax knowing their children are in safe, capable hands.

As a Childcare Activities Assistant, you will play an important role in creating a safe, engaging and nurturing environment for children, supporting a wide range of age‑appropriate activities throughout the day. Working closely with colleagues across the Club, you’ll help deliver fun, creative and educational experiences while ensuring children’s wellbeing, safety and enjoyment are always prioritised. This is an active, people‑focused role suited to someone who brings energy, creativity and care to everything they do.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supervising a variety of indoor and outdoor activities for children of different ages
  • Creating a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment for all children
  • Adapting activities to suit age groups, abilities and individual needs
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of creative, adventurous and educational experiences
  • Working closely with colleagues to deliver seamless and memorable family experiences
  • Communicating positively with parents and carers to build trust and reassurance
  • Supporting evening babysitting services when required
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, hygiene and organisation
  • Completing required paperwork and records accurately

The Children’s Barn operates seven days a week, with shifts including weekdays, weekends and school holidays.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a childcare or children’s activity setting
  • An understanding of safeguarding and its importance in a childcare environment
  • Ability to communicate confidently with children, parents, colleagues and other departments
  • Experience planning or delivering age‑appropriate activities
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and school holidays
  • SVQ Social Services (Children & Young People) or a relevant childcare qualification is desirable, but not essential
