Our client is a family business who blend time-honoured methods with modern equipment and creative thinking, to craft ciders that are both rooted in tradition and alive with character. They are looking to recruit a Production Cider Maker to be part of a passionate and growing team, whose work from fermentation to final blend, will help define the quality and consistency of the ciders across the core range and special releases. This is a highly creative and practical role, ideal for someone who wants to be hands-on in every stage of the cider-making journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Blending products to meet defined flavour profiles and maintain batch consistency.
- Managing and blending ciders from multiple vintages, apple varieties, vats and oak barrels.
- Managing successful fermentations.
- Operating a variety of process equipment including pumps, cross flow filters, and CIP (clean-in-place) systems.
- Processing apples during harvest season, including operating the apple press and managing fruit intake.
- Conducting regular lab analysis to monitor cider health and quality.
- Maintaining records using brewery management software and adhering to traceability standards.
- Cellaring duties including bulk liquid transfer, cleaning and equipment maintenance.
- Following and contributing to hygiene, safety, and quality assurance protocols.
- Supporting the production team in packaging and quality control.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- Experience in cider making or a similar environment (brewing or winemaking).
- HACCP Level 3 food safety qualification (or willingness to obtain).
- Practical knowledge of fermentation, blending, and liquid handling.
- Experience using pumps, CIP systems, and brewery management software.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
