Maltings Technical Manager – North England

A malting company, producing high-quality malt and malted ingredients in the North of England, is looking to recruit a Malting Technical Manager with responsibility for producing malt to meet customer specifications via malt blending, assisting with production planning and the main lead in malt quality investigations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Monitor and manage malt stocks on and off site.

• Monitor, review and feed back to production on product quality.

• Work with production, planning and sales teams to maintain production plan.

• Generate customer blends daily/weekly as required.

• Work closely with team to ensure OTIF delivery is maintained.

• Collaborate to develop and implement strategies to enhance malting quality, yield, and throughput while minimizing waste and resource consumption.

• Assist with continuous improvement projects aimed at streamlining workflows, reducing downtime, and increasing overall productivity.

• Develop and innovate new systems to drive performance of your department.

• Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.

• Collaborate with operations team to design and develop recipes and processes.

Qualifications/Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in malting operations, operations management, process engineering, or related field.

• Ideally, understanding of malting processes, including steeping, germination, and kilning.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Brewing & Distilling, Food Science, Brewing Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree desirable.

• Effective communication skills to convey information clearly and facilitate open dialogue.

• Attention to detail and precision.
