Our client, a well-regarded secondary school in Rugby, is seeking an experienced Catering Manager to lead their catering provision and oversee the day-to-day running of the school kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated catering professional to manage a busy service while ensuring high standards of food quality, nutrition and compliance.
The key responsibilities of a Catering Manager:
- Lead, manage and motivate the catering team to ensure an efficient and positive working environment.
- Plan and develop balanced, nutritious menus that meet school food standards and cater for dietary requirements.
- Oversee all kitchen operations including food preparation, service, cleaning and maintenance.
- Manage catering budgets, stock ordering and waste to ensure value for money.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety in line with regulations such as HACCP and COSHH.
- Carry out risk assessments and maintain appropriate compliance records.
- Work collaboratively with staff and students to gather feedback and continuously improve the catering service.
The minimum requirements for the Catering Manager role:
- Previous experience in a catering management or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene and food safety regulations.
- Experience managing catering operations in a busy environment.
- Ability to manage budgets, stock and food ordering effectively.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
The ideal candidate for the Catering Manager role:
- Experience working within a school or education catering environment.
- Relevant food hygiene qualification (such as Level 3 Food Hygiene).
