Our client, a large distributor, is looking for a Transport Clerk / Administrator who will work a 4 on 4 off shift, 6am to 6pm. You will have solid IT and administration skills and be a reliable helping hand.
The key responsibilities for a Transport Clerk:
- Ensuring the systems are up to date with despatching and loading processes
- Efficiently despatch deliveries with relevant paperwork
- Pre-brief and de-briefing drivers
- Use customer systems to update delivery information - liaising with customers and planners
- Loading/despatching loads onto the transport management system
- Monitor the return of equipment
- Directing drivers to the correct locations on arrival to site
- Liaising with drivers on the gate communication system to make them aware of site procedures
The key skills and experience needed for a Transport Clerk:
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- Able to effectively use IT, including Microsoft Office - Excel and spreadsheet knowledge a must
- Methodical and can follow instruction and procedure
- Reliable
- High levels of commitment and motivation, and can use own initiative
