Background

The Canmore Trust was established in January 2022 by the Gibson family in response to the loss of their son and brother, Cameron, to suicide.

The Trust focuses on suicide prevention, post‑vention, and research into risk factors.

It works with schools, colleges, universities, and the wider charity sector to raise awareness, provide support for families affected by suicide, and coordinate fundraising and action against suicide.

Job Purpose

The purpose of the role is to lead income generation and digital communication for The Canmore Trust.

Working closely with the management team, the incumbent will deliver income targets through proactive donor recruitment, cultivate new key relationships, and oversee all fundraising and digital communication activities.

Key Responsibilities – Fundraising

  • Develop and implement the overall fundraising strategy and activity in conjunction with the management team.
  • Plan and coordinate innovative fundraising campaigns that align with the Trust’s values.
  • Identify new income opportunities with individuals, corporate partners and community groups.
  • Support the Operations Manager to produce innovative bids and proposals for Grants and Trusts.
  • Develop the supporter journey to be the ‘gold standard’.
  • Identify and coordinate events that raise awareness of the Trust’s work and funding opportunities.
  • Plan and coordinate a calendar of fundraising events across the year, including the annual Gala Ball.
  • Work with the volunteer coordinator to recruit and develop fundraising volunteers through motivation and encouragement.
  • Support accurate monitoring and evaluation of fundraising activities for reporting purposes.
  • Compile funding reports to the board of Trustees, stakeholders and funders.
  • Ensure that all fundraising communication is sensitive, inspirational, personal and relevant.
  • Maintain and grow mailing lists and supporter communications in compliance with GDPR.
  • Support CRM updates and fundraising/campaign‑related admin where required.
  • Support the development of fundraising bids, proposals, and applications with high‑quality written content and case studies.

Key Responsibilities – Digital Communication

  • Maintain and grow mailing lists and supporter communications in compliance with GDPR.
  • Design and produce copy for marketing materials and social media, ensuring alignment with the Trust’s values and sensitivity to the subject matter.
  • Manage the Trust’s social media channels, website and other digital content, acting as the primary point of connection for external services.
