We are looking for a motivated and compassionate General Practice Nurse to join our friendly, forward-thinking team at The Cambridge Practice. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care, including chronic disease management, immunisations, health promotion, and supporting patients across all age groups within a busy primary care setting.
Main duties of the job
- Providing treatment room services - wound care, cervical screening, immunisation programmes, deliver health promotion.
- Providing a holistic and evidence-based approach to wound management ideally including experience with ABPI readings & compression therapy, post-op wound care.
- Supporting those who are partaking in the cervical screening programme and promoting other screening programmes.
- Implement public health immunisation programmes for both adults and children.
- Participate in nursing, clinical governance and any other relevant meetings.
- Have an existing interest in long term health conditions or a willingness to train.
- Support a variety of students from different disciplines.

The Cambridge Practice was established in 2018 following the merger of Southlea Surgery and Victoria Surgery in Aldershot, and has been part of the Aldershot Primary Care Network since 2019. We are a fully accredited NHS GP Training Practice, with a long history of supporting the education and development of future GPs. We provide a high quality training environment for GP registrars and a range of healthcare students, including nursing, advanced clinical practice, paramedic, and physician associate students. As a training practice, we are regularly reviewed to ensure high standards of patient care and efficient practice management. Our main site is based within Aldershot Centre for Health, colocated with other healthcare providers, promoting collaborative working. We also operate a branch surgery located to the south of Aldershot, approximately three miles from the main site.
Job responsibilities
You will need to be a registered general nurse, working in accordance with the NMC code of conduct. With evidence of ongoing professional development and experience of working within primary care.
- Participate in national screening programme such as cervical screening and deliver national immunisation and vaccination programme.
- Provide directly or assist GPs/AHP with contraceptive services.
- Acts as a chaperone when required.
- Undertake health promotion to help educate patients/carers/families.
- Provide general treatment room duties assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing care.
- Support in emergency situations.
- Recognise, assess and refer patients presenting with mental health needs.
- Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with patient health care.
- Support the clinical team with safeguarding matters in accordance with local and national policies and procedures.
- Request/process pathology services as required.
- To collect data and participate in regular practice audit/research projects.
- Maintain your NMC registration and continuous professional development.
- Maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, carers and other co-workers, ensuring all statutory regulations are implemented and adhered to.
- Demonstrate understanding of IPC measures.
- To always promote a professional approach by attire and attitude to patients and staff.
- Attend and participate in staff and practice meetings as required.
