LOCATION: RICHARD NEWCOMBE COURT

HOURS: 22.75 hours per week, 8.00am to 2.30pm over a 4-week rota pattern, including alternate weekends.

  • Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 8.00am - 2.30pm
  • Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday: 8.00am - 2.30pm
  • Week 3: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 8.00am - 2.30pm
  • Week 4: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday: 8.00am - 2.30pm

We are looking for a Cook to join our friendly team at Richard Newcombe Court, Cambridge. (CQC rated Good)

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare excellent quality, nutritionally balanced meals, using fresh in season produce whenever possible, and ensuring attractive presentation for our tenants.
  • Assist the Care and Support Manager with menu planning, providing choice and catering for special diets as required.
  • Encourage our tenants to discuss daily menus where appropriate and be flexible according to their needs.
  • Supervise, give on the job training and delegate to the Catering Assistant, promoting high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, safety and efficiency.
  • Keep all necessary records in order to comply with Environmental Health Regulations, including the recording of food temperatures on delivery.

About you:

  • Proven Catering experience to NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
  • A genuine desire to make a positive contribution from day one.
  • Able to plan and organise own workload to the highest standard.
  • Ability to carry out and complete routine work quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to identify the needs of older people.
  • A friendly, committed, flexible team player, who adopts a practical approach to achieve the required results.
  • Knowledge of current legislation and documentation, i.e. HACCP, Safer food better business, Allergens.
  • Ability to order produce in accordance with the menu.
