Salary: Up to £38,907 pro rata depending on experience. Permanent: Full‑time 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Location: Residential homes across Worcester, Hereford and West Midlands.

Cambian Group, the UK’s largest provider of specialist services in children’s residential care, education, mental health rehabilitation and learning disabilities, is looking for a dedicated Mental Health Practitioner. The post requires previous experience of working in CAMHS settings, specifically within Looked After Children’s services.

Main duties of the job

  • You will provide a therapeutic service to young people placed within the community residential setting by assessing and identifying their needs and meeting them through consultation and training to residential and care staff, direct therapeutic work, care planning and management in conjunction with the multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Depending on your experience you may be required to supervise other Mental Health Practitioners.

Job Role

  • You will provide therapeutic support via a consultative model, supporting a designated group of residential children’s homes in your geographical area.
  • You will offer clinical advice, therapeutic resources, reflective discussion and upskilling to residential staff to support the complex mental health and wellbeing needs of the young people.
  • Clinical advice can be provided via online meetings, emails, phone calls and face‑to‑face visits to the homes.
  • You will work closely with the Regional Manager and each manager of a home, and may access clinical advice from other professionals within the company.
  • You are expected to engage in your own CPD activities and may receive support for this.
  • Depending on your experience you may supervise other Mental Health Practitioners, healthcare students and assistants.

Candidate Profile

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic, resilient, motivated and creative Mental Health Practitioner to join our supportive team.
  • Confidence in offering advice, consultations and upskilling to staff will be essential.
  • Professional qualification (e.g. Mental Health Nurse, Qualified Counsellor, Creative Arts Therapist, Social Worker).
  • Registered with the relevant professional organisation (e.g. HCPC, BACP, NCPS).
  • Experience of working in a mental health setting.
  • Confidence, patience and professional curiosity.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent time‑management skills and ability to work autonomously.
  • Awareness of general good practice safeguarding procedures.
