The Cambian Group are recruiting for additional Team Leaders to work in an Ofsted registered children’s home, which is part of Cambian Brook View School. Cambian Brook View School offers a fully integrated approach to the Education, Care and Clinical support for young people aged 8 to 18 years, who come to us on a full time, residential basis from across the country, with a range of Autistic Spectrum and associated complex needs.
Set in over 20 acres of beautiful countryside with the potential for forest dens and classrooms, gardens, stables, tracks and trails, our teams will have the chance to build an amazing landscape for nurturing and developing the creativity and imagination of our children and young people. Brook View pupils are fully supported with a tailored programme for their Care and Education and we deliver rich and innovative experiences, playing to each child’s strengths, to prepare them for their lives ahead. Close community ties underpin these opportunities in and around the Roman town of Ribchester and the city of Preston, with easy access to a host of engaging activities to encourage inclusion and positive outcomes for all our students.
Purpose of the position: The role is about leading a team to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of our young people first. To provide appropriate physical and emotional support to young people in residence through the work of a team of care staff within a residential environment. The emphasis upon effective management of a team, which involves motivating, coaching, managing performance via probation/appraisal and auditing the quality of care. This role is critical in ensuring that ‘The Children’s Home Regulations and Quality Standards’ are exceeded. It also provides the opportunity to develop and improve practice.
Person Specification:
- Knowledge of management practice including principles of effective supervision and appraisal
- Good knowledge of learning disabilities and/or special needs including recent developments
- Good knowledge of recognised positive approach to working with challenging behaviours associated with learning difficulties
- Knowledge of human growth and development
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and legislation
- Proven experience of leading and managing a team and the development of good practice in a care/learning support context
- Proven experience of working effectively with young people with learning disabilities and/or special needs
- Experience of planning, organising and learning activities appropriate to meet young people’s needs and abilities, demonstrating positive outcomes
- Experience of person-centred planning
Requirements of the Team Leader:
- Minimum of a Level 3 RQF Child and Young Person’s Workforce qualification or equivalent (Essential)
- To undertake required training as requested of you that is relevant to your post
- Successful candidates will have to meet the person specification in order to be offered this post
