We are looking for passionate, committed individuals to join our team as Residential Support Workers.
Role Overview
As a Residential Support Worker in our Childrenâs Services, you will play a pivotal role in helping children and young people lead fulfilling, positive lives. You will be responsible for providing highâquality care, support, and guidance, ensuring the wellâbeing and safety of the children and young people in our care. You will work closely with a team of professionals to create and implement individualised care plans that support their development, emotional needs, and educational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children and young people with daily living activities, including personal care, education, and recreational activities.
- Encourage and promote positive behaviour, offering emotional and practical support to build selfâesteem and confidence.
- Develop and maintain trusting, professional relationships with children and young people, providing consistency and stability.
- Implement care plans and ensure childrenâs needs are being met in line with their individual requirements.
- Safeguard and protect children, ensuring that any concerns are reported promptly and in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
- Support children in developing life skills, such as communication, socialisation, and independence.
- Provide a safe, welcoming, and structured environment that encourages growth and development.
- Assist with the preparation and participation in regular reviews, contributing to the childâs individual progress and goals.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with regulatory and organisational standards.
Person Specification
- A genuine passion for working with children and young people, with a commitment to providing the highest standard of care.
- Previous experience in residential care, childrenâs services, or a similar field is desirable, but not essential.
- An understanding of child development and the ability to support children with emotional, behavioural, and social challenges.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleepâin shifts.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Driving Licence Essential.
New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young peopleâs records accurately. Experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their dayâtoâday role.
