Our Specialist Mental Health Services provide residential placements for children and young people aged 11‑12 who are experiencing or have experienced significant mental health challenges, including self‑harming behaviours. Registered with Ofsted, these services offer integrated care, clinical, and education support. We work collaboratively across teams to create child‑focused plans that support recovery, build resilience, and promote reintegration into everyday life following periods of poor mental health.
Responsibilities
- Provide regular psychiatry clinic to the homes to support the psychiatric reviews of the young people.
- Collaborate closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including education, operational care staff, psychology, occupational therapy and the practice nurse.
- Show initiative, demonstrate clear decision‑making and leadership skills while working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Contribute to, and influence the implementation of our therapeutic framework (STEP/Sensory & Supportive, Totally inclusive, Enabling, Progressive), including our trauma‑informed and trauma‑responsive clinical model.
Qualifications & Requirements
- MRCPsych Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, or equivalent.
- Full General Medical Council registration; be on the Specialist Register for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Approved Clinician status (Section 12, Mental Health Act).
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a busy environment.
- Evidence of good multi‑disciplinary team working while working as the only psychiatric practitioner on site.
- Driving licence and/or ability to travel between sites.
