Fenton Grange School is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Pastoral Lead/ Deputy DSL to join a specialist SEMH school. Our learners need a creative, engaging curriculum to help them overcome barriers to learning. You will work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team, creating a therapeutic environment that focuses on both academic and personal development.

Who we are: Cambian Fenton Grange School, an independent DfE-registered school. We provide high quality specialist education for up to 20 students, who have experienced trauma. The pupils in our school exhibit a range of challenging behaviours and associated learning and communication difficulties.

Overview of Responsibility

  • Develop and maintain a safe and happy environment in which students thrive and are the best versions of themselves, achieving positive outcomes and bright futures.
  • Emotional welfare of all students.
  • Transitions into and out of Fenton Grange School.
  • Safeguarding processes, records, actions, culture; liaising with DSL.
  • Communication- external & internal.
  • Attendance procedures and tracking.
  • Therapeutic approaches and dissemination of best practice.
  • Assessing, tracking and reporting pupil progress and outcomes and developing and implementing action plans re. SEMH & wellbeing.
  • Coordinating with key staff for the benefit of students e.g. SENDCo.
  • Promoting authentic student voice.
  • Maintaining and writing policies relating to pupil welfare e.g. safeguarding, with the support of SLT.
  • Training for staff.
  • Leading pastoral team & approaches.
  • Role model school values and ethos to all.
  • Supporting teaching and learning in staff, with a particular focus on mindset for learning.
