About The Role

We’re looking for a Communications & Engagement Officer who’s passionate about people, storytelling, and impact. You’ll be at the heart of our communications – finding and sharing real-life stories that reflect the voices of our customers and colleagues.

You’ll create content for press, social media, websites, and internal channels, using digital tools (including AI) to enhance your work while keeping humanity at the core. You’ll also help manage reputational risks, support campaigns, and build relationships with media, stakeholders, and communities.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Co-creating powerful human-interest stories with empathy and care
  • Producing engaging content across digital and traditional platforms
  • Building relationships with colleagues, customers, and community partners
  • Supporting marketing and awareness campaigns
  • Representing Calico externally and guiding brand voice internally
  • Using AI tools to streamline content creation and gather insights
  • Mentoring team members and contributing to cultural initiatives

Essential:

  • Experience in communications, journalism, or PR
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence using digital tools and social media
  • Ability to build rapport and represent Calico authentically
  • A proactive, curious, and collaborative mindset
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car

Desirable:

  • Degree in Media, PR, or Journalism
  • Understanding of health, social care, or housing
  • Familiarity with Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, Canva
