JOB PURPOSE
We are looking for a Handyperson to provide general building maintenance and gardening across our properties, ensuring they are kept safe, secure and in good condition. The role requires working to a high standard, in a safe and professional manner, while being sensitive to the needs of staff and the children and young people who live and work within our settings.
WHAT KIND OF PERSON DO WE NEED?
You will be able to carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including but not limited to:
- General building maintenance
- Basic carpentry
- Tiling and painting
- Plumbing
- Minor electrical works (within the scope of training and competence, and in line with health and safety requirements)
- Drainage works
- External works, including gardening
You will also have:
- A full, valid driving licence and the ability to travel between sites as required for the role
- A City & Guilds craft certificate, Level 2 NVQ Diploma (or equivalent) in a relevant trade, or demonstrable equivalent experience in multi-trade building maintenance
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a building trade or property maintenance role
- A practical, hands-on approach and enjoyment of working both indoors and outdoors
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role includes physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, loading and unloading materials, climbing and working safely at height. The post holder will predominantly work on their feet throughout the working day. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments to support candidates in performing the role.
