An opportunity has arisen for a skilled Wholesale Butcher to join a family-run catering butchers (est. 1962), with a close-knit team of Butchers, Production Operators, Warehouse Assistants and Delivery Drivers, supplying meats from around the world to London and the Home Counties.
What you’ll be doing:
- Following daily butchery workflows, including whole carcass breakdown and preparation of beef, pork, lamb and poultry to specification.
- Operating machinery such as the bandsaw safely and effectively to meet order requirements and stock replenishment.
- Accurately using specifications, recipes and stock management systems to ensure products are to spec with full traceability.
- Weighing, packing, sealing and inspecting products, identifying and addressing any items that are not to standard.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety and quality assurance, alongside routine equipment checks and issue reporting.
- Supporting stock control, inventory counts, stock rotation, and ongoing role-specific training, seeking guidance where knowledge gaps are identified.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong butchery and knife skills, including portion control, with experience operating butchery machinery safely and effectively.
- Solid background in food production and preparation, delivering high-quality meat products in line with customer expectations.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety practices, hygiene standards and health regulations, with a strong focus on compliance.
- Proven ability to manage time and workflows effectively in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Confident communicator who works well within a team to maintain smooth operations and consistent standards.
- Passion for good food and flavour, combined with a flexible, solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
Working hours:
- Monday to Friday, Night Shift 01:00 – 10:00
- 1 Saturday per month – 04:00 – 13:00 (fixed schedule)
- Overtime potential on discussion with Leadership Team
