We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Multi-Skilled Production Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of equipment to ensure smooth and efficient production operations. The position is critical in reducing equipment downtime, improving operational efficiency, and supporting process improvements across the facility.
The engineer will be expected to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance, lead or contribute to improvement projects, and assist in the ongoing development of our manufacturing systems. This includes mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems with a particular focus on automation and injection moulding technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Respond promptly to equipment faults and breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing effective mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic repairs.
- Deliver preventative maintenance schedules to reduce unplanned downtime and increase equipment longevity.
- Collaborate with production teams to implement and support process changes that enhance productivity and quality.
- Ensure modifications to equipment comply with relevant safety and quality standards.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities, including lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and update documentation and specification sheets as required.
- Monitor spare parts inventory and ensure that necessary components are available to avoid delays in repairs or projects.
- Provide training and technical guidance to production staff to promote best practices in equipment use and care.
- Work independently and as part of a team to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Ensure all activities are completed in line with health and safety policies and procedures.
- HNC / ONC / NVQ Level 4 / City & Guilds or equivalent in Engineering or Electronics
- Time-served apprenticeship in an engineering discipline
- Formal qualification or training in Lean Manufacturing (e.g., Six Sigma)
- Proven experience fault-finding and repairing mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
- Strong understanding of electrical control systems and PLCs
- Hands-on experience with injection moulding machines and automation equipment
- Demonstrable experience in lean manufacturing and process improvement projects
- Salary: up to £50k (DOE)
- Days only Mon to Fri 830AM to 5PM
