The Finance Assistant will be working as part of a small, friendly team, reporting to the Senior Finance Manager. The role provides administrative support to the finance team and will also provide finance associated administrative support for the housing management service, maintaining appropriate records and deliver a high-quality service to tenants.

The role is on an initial 12-month fixed term contract basis, working hybrid Monday to Friday, fulltime hours.
Key duties:-
Cash Management and Funding
• Processing high volumes of receipts for rent, council tax refunds and other income
• Preparation and posting of journals including cashbooks, recharges to other entities
• Monthly banking of cheques
• Daily bank balance review
Financial Reporting
• Approval of invoices on a daily basis
• Creation of sales invoices and reviewing sales processes
• Month-end journal postings (e.g. payroll, prepayments, accruals, depreciation)
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly management accounts, budgets and forecasts to predetermined timetables and to a high degree of accuracy
• Support the preparation of the annual statutory accounts
• Managing risk through adhering to internal processes and controls
Housing Assistant Administration Support
• Run the weekly rent debit and complete the cash receipts in the housing management system
• Provide support for housing services, including, rent accounting, managing voids and arrears, pre-tenancy prep, adverts for lettings and tenancy administration
• Support compliance with relevant regulations by maintaining accurate records of any customer interactions, and of repairs, maintenance, and complaints using specialised software
• Support development of relationships with partner agencies who can add value to the tenant offer (e.g. money management services)
Skills and experience required:-
• Previous finance or accounts experience, gained within a commercial environment
• A relevant accounting qualification is desirable (e.g. AAT qualified)
• Be proficient in the use of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
• Demonstrate commitment to delivery of accurate, high-quality work whilst meeting financial targets and deadlines
• Act with professionalism, be discreet and adhere to confidentiality requirements at all times
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to a wide range of people
• Values driven and want to make a positive difference
• Able to demonstrate a strong commitment to meeting high standards. You will be flexible in approach and intellectually curious
• Hold a full driving licence
• Able to pass a DBS check and a satisfactory credit check
