Job Description
- Domestic Couple – Housekeeper (FOH) and Houseman
- Location: Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire
- Salary: up to £90,000 per annum (DOE, per couple)
- Accommodation: Private accommodation provided on the estate, with utilities included
- Start Date: ASAP (willing to wait for the right couple with a notice period)
- Hours: 6-day working week on a flexible rota; no fixed hours — depends on whether the family is in residence
- Travel: Occasional travel may be required
A busy and well-established family estate near Chipping Norton is seeking a reliable and experienced domestic couple to support the smooth running of a lively household.
This is a varied role suited to a practical, friendly, and proactive couple who work well together and are happy to assist with a wide range of duties both inside the home.
This is the client’s primary residence; however, they also own properties around the world which they visit frequently during the holidays. They are typically away for a couple of weeks at a time during these periods, so they are ideally looking for a couple with a flexible approach to their working pattern.
The family is supported by a loyal and energetic household team, including nannies, housekeepers, gardeners, and administrative staff. The successful couple will be an integral part of this cohesive team, helping to ensure the home is impeccably maintained and day-to-day operations run smoothly.
Key responsibilities
Housekeeper / FOH:
- Full housekeeping of the main residence (cleaning, laundry, ironing, wardrobe management)
- Maintaining high standards of presentation throughout bedrooms, bathrooms, and communal areas
- Supporting the chef with meal service and table setting for both informal and formal occasions
- Running household errands and liaising with other staff to ensure the smooth operation of the home
- Collaborating with the childcare team to ensure the home is child-friendly and well-organised
- Occasional assistance with cooking simple family meals
Houseman / FOH :
- Assisting with the setup and breakdown of outdoor events, parties, and family gatherings
- Greeting guests, helping with luggage, parking cars, and offering general butler-style assistance
- Managing deliveries, stocking household supplies, and supporting arrivals and departures
- Handling light maintenance tasks, basic repairs, and ensuring household systems are functioning
- Car maintenance, MOTs, valeting, and occasional driving for school runs, errands, or airport runs
- Pool and outdoor area upkeep — ensuring the entertaining spaces are tidy and guest-ready
- Locking up and securing the property at the end of the day
- Occasional help with childcare support (e.g. attending sports fixtures, helping at parties)
Candidate requirements
- Proven experience working as a Domestic Couple in a private household
- Comfortable with both formal and informal environments
- Hands-on, flexible, and happy to turn their hand to a wide variety of tasks
- Trustworthy, discreet, and able to work independently or as part of a wider team
- Pet-friendly and child-friendly
- Practical DIY or technical skills a bonus
- Clean driving licence (at least one of the couple)
