Location: Carterton, Oxfordshire (hybrid, home-based with local travel)

Salary: £30,000 pro rata

Part-time: 20 hours per week (flexible working; client contact required during 9-5)

Ongoing training in year-end accounts, corporation tax, and personal tax

The Role

Working closely with the practice team, you will be responsible for supporting a portfolio of clients across a wide range of bookkeeping and accounting tasks. Duties will include:

  • Weekly bookkeeping for limited companies and sole traders
  • Posting accruals, prepayments, and depreciation journals
  • Updating fixed asset registers
  • Adjustments for stock and WIP at year end
  • Bank and control account reconciliations
  • Preparation of management accounts with commentary
  • Producing accounts to trial balance for year-end preparation
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Weekly and monthly payroll processing
  • Preparation and filing of CIS returns
  • Filing confirmation statements and other statutory submissions
  • Liaising with clients for data collection and updates
  • Contact with HMRC where required
  • Handling administrative tasks including call and email management
  • Supporting day-to-day business operations
  • Assisting with the roll-out of MTD ITSA services

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong bookkeeping and accounts experience (practice experience desirable)
  • Familiarity with software such as Xero, QuickBooks Online, Dext, and Excel
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive, detail-focused approach
  • Ability to drive and willingness to visit clients locally as the role develops
  • Residence within 20 miles of Carterton, Oxfordshire
