Full-time Sole Gardener
Location: GL56, Gloucestershire
Salary: up to £43,000 gpa (DOE)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm (seasonal flexibility)

Additional Info: Occasional weekend work may be required if the client is in residence.
An UHNW client is looking for a friendly and experienced Sole Gardener to help care for their much loved and beautifully varied garden. As this is not their main residence, they need someone they can genuinely rely on, someone who enjoys working independently, feels confident in their abilities and takes real pride in keeping the garden at its best. The garden has received a great deal of care and investment in recent years, with some wonderful planting and design work already established. It now needs a committed full time gardener who will enjoy building on this progress and helping the space flourish throughout the seasons.
Job Description
- Day-to-day care of the entire garden, including its varied areas and specialist planting
- Maintenance of the formal lawn, herbaceous borders, swimming pool surrounds and planted garden edges
- Oversight of the one-acre woodland and former quarry area to keep them maintained
- Care of the wildlife pond and waterfall features, supporting the garden’s long-term wildlife-focused vision
- Greenhouse tasks including propagation, seasonal growing and general plant health management
- Identifying issues early, planning for the seasons ahead and making ongoing improvements to the garden
- Machinery care and basic tool maintenance
Candidate Requirements
- Strong horticultural knowledge with experience managing or maintaining large, diverse private gardens
- Confident in plant identification, seasonal care, propagation and border management
- Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round and getting hands-on
- Experience in woodland or wildlife gardening beneficial
- Must be trustworthy, discreet and able to work with minimal supervision
- Prior experience working within a similar setting within a private household
Desirable Qualifications
- PA1 & PA6
- Chainsaw certification
- Formal horticultural training (not essential but welcomed)
