The Burford Recruitment Company is delighted to be working on behalf of a prestigious private estate seeking a Butler to support the current House Manager/Butler. The role will involve splitting shifts when the principals are in residence, ensuring consistent standards are achieved across the service department.
Responsibilities:
- Welcoming and attending to guests upon arrival.
- Ensuring proper table setting and entertainment preparations.
- Serving meals and refreshments to principals and guests.
- Ensuring the cleanliness presentation of silverware, chinaware and crystal.
- Care of service linens and of fires and replenishment of wood.
- Inventory Update & Management of service-related items.
- Overseeing the cleanliness of pantries and service areas.
- Working alongside the HM to assist in the organisation of household events.
- Open-up and close-down the house in line with the security protocol.
- Ensure that all front-of-house equipment is always to standard.
- Carry out admin errands when required.
- Care of the wine cellar in accordance with HM.
Valeting Duties:
- Valeting of the Male principal's wardrobe.
- Cleaning and maintaining shoes.
- Packing and unpacking for the principals in coordination with the HM and the London Butler.
- Dry cleaning errands.
- Responsible for arranging repairs as required.
- Coordinate with the London Butler that wardrobe items are in the correct location.
Occasional Traveling Duties:
- Travel to principals UK & overseas residences when required.
- Support and provide cover to the London Butler as and when required.
Housekeeping:
- Assisting the Housekeeping Department with planned deep cleaning and routine cleaning schedule.
- Chandelier Cleaning.
- Cleaning of Brass and other metals.
- Cleaning and polishing of the fireplaces and utensils.
- Helping to receive and unload shopping weekly and replenish household supplies.
Skills and attributes required:
- At least 3 years' experience in a formal Butler role within a private household setting.
- Strong knowledge of service etiquette and household protocols.
- Highly organised, professional and discreet.
- Driving licence.
