An excellent opportunity has arisen for a proactive and capable Houseman to join a large, active private country residence in Oxfordshire. This is a varied, hands-on position supporting the smooth day-to-day running of a substantial family home. Working closely with the House Manager and Head Housekeeper, you will play a key role in ensuring the property remains organised, presentable, and fully operational at all times.
Working Pattern: 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 (Weekend working required on a rota basis)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with daily household operations and overall presentation
- Supporting housekeeping with heavy lifting and furniture movement
- Replenishing firewood and preparing fireplaces
- Carrying out light maintenance duties (changing light bulbs, minor repairs, clock winding)
- Assisting with luggage and guest arrivals
- Undertaking light driving duties as required
- Supporting event setup and breakdown
- Preparing outdoor furniture and seasonal areas, including sauna preparation
About You:
- Experienced within a similar private household or estate environment (preferred)
- Practical, hands-on, and a strong problem solver
- In possession of a full UK driving licence (essential)
- Comfortable working around four small to medium-sized dogs
- Flexible and willing to work weekends as part of a rota
- Discreet, reliable, and a team player
