Burford Recruitment is delighted to be working with a prestigious private family to recruit an experienced Live-in Housekeeper for their beautiful country estate near Bloxham. This is a rare opportunity to join a welcoming private household on a long-term basis, becoming a valued member of a small, dedicated estate team. The successful candidate will enjoy a varied role, combining exceptional housekeeping with hospitality support and the unique opportunity to accompany the family to their private chalet in Verbier, Switzerland, several times each year. The Role
- Maintaining a large private country house to exceptionally high standards
- Daily cleaning, laundry, ironing and wardrobe care
- Preparing bedrooms, including evening turndown when required
- Caring for fine furnishings, antiques and artwork
- Shopping, household errands and stock management
- Flower arranging and maintaining a welcoming home
- Supervising a part-time cleaner
- Liaising with contractors and assisting with household maintenance
- Supporting with informal entertaining, including food preparation, serving drinks and clearing after meals
- Occasional cooking from recipes and baking (desirable)
- Driving for shopping, errands and occasional station or airport collections
- Travel to Switzerland
- An exciting aspect of this role is supporting the family during visits to their private chalet in Verbier, Switzerland. You will travel ahead of the family to prepare the property before assisting throughout their stay with housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation support, hospitality and ensuring the chalet runs smoothly. International travel forms an essential part of this position.
About You
- We’re looking for someone who has previous experience working within a private household
- Takes enormous pride in delivering exceptional housekeeping standards
- Is organised, proactive and able to work independently
- Has a warm, friendly and discreet manner
- Enjoys providing excellent hospitality
- Is flexible with working hours, including weekends when the family are in residence
- Is happy travelling internationally several times each year
- Holds a full UK driving licence
- Has an excellent employment history demonstrating loyalty and longevity
- Is a non-smoker (preferred)
